Monessen
A new neighborhood is developing in the City of Monessen at the
site of the former Monessen High School. This revitalized
neighborhood on Knox and Reed Avenues offers
affordable homes to
eligible buyers.
The revitalization initiative is a cooperative project of the
City of Monessen, Westmoreland Community Action, and the
Westmoreland County Department of Planning and Development. The
neighborhood is conveniently located within walking distance of bus
stops and playgrounds and just minutes from Route 70.
Phases
1 and 2 have been completed with the
construction of five homes that feature:
- 3 bedrooms
- 1 1/2 baths (some with Jacuzzi tubs)
- Full basement
- Wall-to-wall carpeting
- Front porch and off-street parking
- Kitchen with pantry (some models with work island)
- Low utility bills with energy efficient gas forced air heat
and central air-conditioning
Phase 3
Begins in early 2009 with the addition of 2 homes (one on Reed
Avenue and the other on Knox Avenue).

Phase
4
Will
complete the project with 3 additional homes on Knox Avenue.
As homes from one phase are sold, the next phase will begin.
